Kuwait Amir Representative receives UN chief on sidelines of UNGA high-level week
The Representative of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah received on Sunday UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at his official residence in New York, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA). His Highness the Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir to the Secretary General. During the meeting, His Highness the Crown Prince reiterated Kuwait's commitment to effectively partaking in the 81st session, referring to the sensitivity of this current phase which requires all concerted efforts of the international community for de-escalation. His Highness the Crown Prince stressed the need to activate the UN role and upgrade its mechanisms to address consecutive crises in a manner that contributes to cementing the pillars of international and regional security and stability and achieving the sustainable development goals. Meanwhile, Guterres commended Kuwait's historical and leading role in backing international organizations, and its diplomatic efforts to enhance dialogue and settle peacefully disputes as well as continued support for humanitarian efforts to end the suffering of the affected peoples. Both sides reviewed the latest developments and the situations on international and regional arenas mainly efforts exerted to end tensions in the region. They also shared views on means of boosting joint cooperation to address increasing global challenges. The meeting featured Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director-General of the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi, Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organizations Affairs Ambassador Sadiq Marafie, Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Tareq Al-Banai and Assistant Foreign Minister for the Minister of Foreign Affairs Office Minister Plenipotentiary Abdullah Al-Obaidi.
